The adventure of a lifetime...
Imagine yourself driving through the middle of a desert, The Sahara for example, in a car worth less than $150. Sound like a bad dream? Well in fact it is an annual event called The Plymouth to Dakar Rally.
Competitors gather from far and wide every year in Plymouth for an eccentric race to Dakar. The rally was first staged 6 years ago as a parody of the world famous Paris to Dakar Rally.
The rules are simple, take a car worth $150 on a 3600 mile odyssey south through France and Spain then on down the North West coast of Africa. Competing teams are only allowed to spend $20 on car improvements and must sell their car in Africa after the rally for the benefit of Gambian charities.
Does it sound like an adventure or a nightmare?
Ace Marine Images is going from the depths of the oceans to the dunes of the mighty Sahara. We depart from Plymouth, England on the 19th of December. At this time we can have little or no idea as to what we will encounter on our long journey. But what a great story it will make and that is why we are going.
Our dedicated team plan to film the entire event and produce a documentary film detailing the trails and adventures of these eclectic eccentric adventurers.
